Water for the World: Waikato
The source area of the river is located in the Central Volcanic Plateau. From there, the Waikato flows into Lake Taupo, the largest lake in New Zealand, before plunging into deep gorges in a spectacular waterfall, the Huka Falls. In its further course, the river flows gently over fertile plains, the Waikato Plains, which had already been cultivated by the Maori and intensively used for agriculture. Even today many Maori families live in the Waikato region.
In our „Waikato-Panel“ blocks from Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, South Africa and the USA whisk you away into the fantastic world of water.
