Unfortunately, I had only planned one day for Mackinaw City. Therefore, I had to leave the motel shortly after sunrise (ok, ok, not SHORTLY after sunrise ;-) and board the ferry to Mackinac Island to have as much time as possible to explore the island in a leisurely manner....

My 2005 trip to the USA led me around Lake Michigan with a short detour to the shores of Lake Superior.
